The Center for Research on Peace education (CERPE) at the University of Haifa was established in the spring of 1998 to serve the cause of peace and justice through the scholarly study of peace education.

CERPE is designed to address this topic by carrying out empirical research on the ways peace education can and should be carried out, the barriers it faces and the factors that make it effective and sustainable. CERPE also brings together scholars from different disciplines – education, psychology, anthropology, sociology, political science, economics and history – and from different parts of the world, to develop the scholarly field of peace education.

Another mission of CERPE is to establish strong and dynamic relations between peace education researchers and practitioners. Toward this end an interactive website (PEACH) has been established that includes the most important information about the organizations that carry out peace and partnership education projects in Israel, and the research carried out in the field.
